Board of Directors

Alan Pepper, Chief Executive

     
 

Alan was appointed Chief Executive on 1 January 2014 having joined the Board as Chief Operating Officer on the Group’s acquisition of Avanta in July 2013. Alan was previously Chief Executive of Avanta from October 2011 and before that Avanta’s Finance and Commercial Director.  Having joined Avanta in October 2006 he played a key role in its management buyout in January 2007 and the refinancing and shareholder buyback in June 2011. He was the responsible Investor Director at the private equity group that originally backed the start up of Avanta in 2004.  Alan is a Chartered Accountant by profession with experience in corporate finance, investment management, corporate recovery and turnaround management and prior to a period in private equity both in a major investment bank and a boutique investment firm worked in the accounting profession in the UK and overseas.


Executive Team

David Kinnaird, Group Operations Director

     
 

David joined Avanta in 2006 and is responsible for day to day business operations including the billing and delivery of all services (from coffee to copiers to IT), the maintenance of buildings and compliance with all statutory obligations. Previously David was with BT for 2 years as Head of BT Compliance and Governance Practice and prior to this he spent 3 years at MWB Business Exchange as the IT and Telecoms Director. Both roles emerged from his military career with the British Army where left as a Major after 15 years’ service where he specialised in the design and operation

of communication and information systems.



Geraint Evans, Sales & Marketing Director

     
 

Geraint is responsible for Serviced Office Group’s overall sales and marketing. Together with a strong team of experienced sales and marketing personnel he is responsible for ensuring that the Group’s marketing strategy is complimented by effective and successful sales processes. Geraint has over 20 years of experience within the sales and marketing arena, having spent three years with Marks & Spencer and ten years with British Airways before becoming the UK Sales Director for MWB Business Exchange.  He joined Avanta at its inception in 2004.



Gemma Foord, Head of Sales

     

 

Gemma is a key and trusted member of the Senior Management Team.  Having joined Avanta in 2005 as an Area Sales Manager, she progressed to lead the UK Sales Management in 2009. Today Gemma heads up and oversees all sales for the company and has been responsible for year on year growth during her time.  The company has grown from 2 to 28 buildings and she has been a key contributor to this expansion. Instrumental in a twelvefold increase in annual revenues to date, she has brought on board a number of major FTSE 100 clients.  Gemma’s ethos is that the right people are central to success and with a focus on talent, experience, passion and good training, she has built and enjoys mentoring a world class sales team.  Prior to joining Avanta, Gemma worked at the American Embassy London, where she was a Lease Management and Housing Relocation expert.

Kate Probert, Head of HR

     


 

Kate joined Avanta in 2008 and is responsible for the overall Human Resources and Training functions within the business. Following 10 years working for Ceva Logistics Kate left her role as Operations Manager to join the serviced office industry. Kate is now CIPD qualified and supports the business and its employees not only through employment legislation but focusing on employee engagement, talent management and wellbeing to help achieve Avanta’s cultural goals.


Natasha Rainsford, Operations Manager

     
 

Natasha Rainsford is the UK Operations Manager at Avanta and is responsible for Centre Operations, Customer Service, Team and People Management.  She currently manages a team of six Regional Business Centre Managers, who between them have responsibility for 28 business centres.  Natasha joined Avanta (or as was Service Office Group) in 2011 and has a wealth of experience, having been in the service industry for over 14 years.  Natasha expects the highest levels of customer service and is an Assessor for the Institute of Customer Service. .



Kate Miles, Head of Facilities Management

     

 

A former Business Centre Manager with a background in service excellence gained at The Savoy Group, Kate joined to lead Avanta’s FM department in 2006.  In this time, she has influenced the design of new systems and developed internal control strategies that ensure businesses are primed for growth.  As Head of FM with over 15 years’ experience in the industry, there is little that hasn’t crossed her desk, or plant room; but growth and new collaborative models of working, afford exciting new challenges.  

 

Focusing on acquisition due diligence, effective internal fit out controls and standards, as well as knowing how important it is for a bean to meet a cup, she ensures that the Avanta buildings and services meet the needs of their occupants efficiently, safely and cost effectively.  Kate is a chartered member of IOSH.


Phoebe Miller, E-Commerce and Tech Manager



 

Phoebe joined Avanta in 2009 when she was recruited to co-manage the Virtual Office offering, from product development to ensuring service excellence.  She has since progressed through the company and now manages not only the VO services, but also the Contact Centre and all technology and e-commerce projects.  Her responsibilities include managing projects from online meeting room booking portals and Customer Relationship Management systems, to online payment gateways and interactive billing systems. Phoebe plays a key role in ensuring that all business systems and processes are intuitive and add value to all users; clients and employees alike.  Prior to joining Avanta, Phoebe worked at MWB Business Exchange, Talisma CRM as well as living and working in Australia.


Anna Norman-Butler, Head of Marketing


 

Anna joined Avanta Serviced Office Group in 2008 and manages the entire marketing function of the business including 4 websites, SEO, PPC, social media, collateral design & printing, copy writing, PR, direct mail, partnerships and events.  She previously spent 5 years working at Ignite Group Ltd, managing the marketing for the Eclipse bar brand and therefore has over 13 years of experience in the service industry. 



Tom Sleigh, Head of Acquisitions and Portfolio Management


 

Tom joined Avanta in January 2015 as Head of Acquisitions and Portfolio Management. He is principally responsible for expanding Avanta’s portfolio in central London, through leasehold acquisitions and developing joint venture partnerships with landlords and developers. His role involves securing lease terms, financial modelling, budgeting, design, planning and due diligence as well as managing Avanta's existing portfolio. Tom is a qualified chartered surveyor and previously worked at Instant Offices.
