Sunday Times Names Avanta One of The UK’s Best Small Companies to Work for
Serviced office provider Avanta has been recognised in a prestigious national poll as one of the UK’s best small companies to work for. The poll compiles the views of some 35,000 employees who fed into the survey and is the most comprehensive study of workplace opinion and engagement of its kind. The full results have been published in this week’s The Sunday Times.
Avanta, who operate business centres throughout the UK and India, secured a much sought after place in the elite top 100 in a survey which attracted entries from hundreds of companies. The serviced office specialist was ranked at no 61, alongside the UK’s leading small business spanning a broad cross section of industries. Companies were marked against eight categories; Leadership; Wellbeing; Belonging; Giving Back; and Personal Growth and the other ones.
This recognition demonstrates Avanta’s growing capability to engage and motivate employees during the current challenging economic climate, with 84% of staff stating that they are excited about where the company is going and feel they can make a difference in the organisation. The on-going economic downturn has failed to stop the business achieving sustainable growth. Avanta grew last year by 40 members of staff, which helped facilitate an expansion of the business into India.
The company also offers training through Professional Awards through the Institute of Customer Service. When staff complete their level, they receive a 6% rise in pay. Employees feel there are no limits to their chances to grow (73%) and say the experience is valuable for their future (85%). They have not suffered work-related stress in the past year (84% and a top 15 score).
Avanta was also commended for its approach to corporate responsibility and charitable donations. Last year it sponsored a race day for the Sparks children’s charity and supported its winter ball at the London Hilton, helping to raise £150,000. The company spends £71,000 a year on fun, and its drive and generosity win it a lot of love (84%).
Jennifer Brooke, executive director of the Business Centre Association (BCA) - the UK’s sole trade association for the business centre and managed workspace industry- said: “The strong representation of managed business space companies in the Sunday Times’ Top 100 list is a true reflection of the flexibility and resilience of the sector. Our members have led the way in terms of ethical and responsive practice.
Phil Auden, from ICS (Institute of Customer Service), said: “It is a great achievement for Avanta to secure such a prominent place in this prestigious survey and it is a team achievement we will continue to build upon in the years going forward”.
Jill Jackson, Director of HR and Training, said: “Avanta actively creates a positive working environment not only for its own employees, but for the businesses it services, and to have been ranked at 61 in the list is a true reflection of the company’s ability to respond positively to market changes and continue to meet the needs of a business community under increasing pressure”.
In the UK or overseas, Avanta’s appeal to occupiers is being able to offer highly flexible, unbranded office space tailor made to meet the requirements of the individual business. This flexibility is underpinned by competitively priced and transparent fixed-costs, so occupiers can account for every penny they are spending on their office needs.
The formula attracts small and medium sized businesses to FTSE 250 companies alike. The theory that a small business occupier and a major corporate want the same thing and are largely driven by location, quality and price, is central to Avanta’s business philosophy.
